Bio

MALUM is a live club collective from Bergen, Norway, blending space-disco, breakbeats, post-rock and synth-driven textures into a genre-fluid, immersive club experience. Built from a background of young jazz musicians, the project approaches club music from the outside in — translating electronic forms into a fully live, physical band format. The result is an explosive live show driven by layered percussion, distorted guitars, cinematic soundscapes and a strong visual identity.

MALUM is the first signing on the revived legendary Norwegian label Tellé Records, known for launching internationally influential artists such as Röyksopp, Kings of Convenience, Annie, Datarock and Ralph Myerz. The collaboration positions the band within a lineage of forward-thinking Scandinavian electronic music while allowing them to push the live club format in new directions.

Conceptualised in early 2023 by drummer Emil Malum and bassist Eirik Kvalbein, MALUM made their live debut at Bergen’s showcase festival Vill Vill Vest in 2024, performing to a packed venue and receiving strong critical and audience response. Since then, the collective has supported CASIOKIDS at Oslo’s Rockefeller and independently produced a multi-venue concert series in Bergen — a genre-defying takeover that introduced hundreds of new listeners and cemented their reputation as an uncompromising creative force. The project has already collaborated with Prins Thomas, with further international collaborations coming in 2026.

Central to MALUM’s live identity is the fusion of band-driven club music and hypnotic, organic visuals, often improvised live by visual artist Ola Lysgaard. In 2025, the band released their debut album every body as part of their evolving concert series — a format that continues to develop and expand into 2026, with live performance remaining at the core of the project.
